Design System Specialist
- Remote
- Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland
Job description
About the Role
We’re hiring a Design System Specialist to own DS work end-to-end: from token architecture and component design, through documentation and handoff, to iterating the system based on product and developer feedback. You’ll work independently across client projects in an agency environment.
Your Responsibilities
Design, build and maintain production-grade component libraries and token structures.
Architect token systems: primitive → semantic → component layers.
Manage multi-file Figma libraries, modes (light/dark, themes), and library versioning.
Lead design-to-dev handoff: specs, interaction notes, tokens mapped to code variables.
Maintain and evolve DS documentation (Zeroheight, Confluence or equivalent).
Conduct audits of existing systems and propose concrete improvements.
What We’re Looking For
2+ years of hands-on DS work in a commercial or agency setting.
Expert Figma skills: multi-file libraries, Figma Variables with modes, component architecture at scale.
Solid command of design token architecture - you can build and explain primitive/semantic/component layers.
Practical HTML/CSS knowledge - you understand how a token maps to code and can spot handoff issues.
Accessibility in practice: WCAG AA implementation in components, keyboard navigation, ARIA labels.
Experience with documentation tools (Zeroheight, Storybook or equivalent).
English C1 - client-facing documentation and communication.
Nice to Have
Experience with Tokens Studio or a design-to-code token pipeline.
Storybook familiarity or ability to read JS/React component code.
Multi-brand or white-label DS experience.
